Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 9" Stoneware Cake Crock Lid.
The distinctive glaze and decoration make it easy to attribute this piece to Thomas, Jr. and James Haig of Philadelphia from 1831 to at least the 1870's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , p. 8).
Dating around 1870, this beauty features Three Freehand Cobalt Leaves around the Top. Measures 9" in diameter and fits in a crock with an opening at least 6 3/4".
Very Good Condition. A chip on the side of the knob (7/8"), two chips (1/2", 1") and a ping (1") on the underside at the edge, and a chip on the seating ring (1/2"). No top edge chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
