Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Jar.

This jar is easily attributed to Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).

Circa 1870, this beauty features a Finely Tooled Rim and Four Leaves around the Middle.  Each leaf has 6 or 7 brushstrokes of strong cobalt blue.  Gorgeous cobalt too!  Cinnamon coloration.  Stands 8 1/2" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A 1/4" flake on the top and side of the rim.  Some superficial age lines and short drying line on the bottom.  That's it!  No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
