Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Salt Glaze Jug with Bumblebee.
 
The form and decoration indicates that this jug was made by the North Star Stoneware Company of Red Wing, Minnesota which was in operation from 1892 to 1896 until becoming part of the Union Stoneware Company and eventually the Red Wing Stoneware Company (Dan DePasquale and Larry Peterson, Red Wing Stoneware Encyclopedia, pp. 151).
 
This beauty features Salt Glaze, Fancy "4" Capacity Number, and a Bumblebee Decoration found in various version in Red Wing stoneware. Stands 16 1/2" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  A 1" surface ping line on the right side of the handle, a 3/4" chip at the bottom in the back, and a thin stain run on the right side.  No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  Some bubbles in the cobalt and a 1" chip on the front bottom in the making.
