Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this imposing 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock made for "Walker & Co., 27 Haverhill St., Boston, Mass." Walker was a grocer in Boston.
All indications are that the crock was made by one of the potteries in Fort Edward, N.Y.
This beauty features the Merchant Advertising impressed on the shoulder with cobalt wash, and the main attraction: a Huge Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration in Brushed Freehand Cobalt on Lush Ground Cover. Very much true folk art and a bit more unusual than other similar decorations. Measures 11 1/2" tall and wide.
Good Condition. Two 9" hairlines from the rim in the back that have been glued (closeups). Otherwise as made.
