Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug whose decoration indicates it was made by Samuel Brady and John J. Ryan who ran their pottery in Ellenville. N.Y. from 1878-1897 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 66).
This beauty features a Bushy-Tailed Bird on a Dotted Branch. The bird is nicely centered on the jug and is executed with a slip cup in shiny cobalt. Stands 14 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A narrow 2" chip on the underside on the edge of the left side. That's it! No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A salt drip on the bird's tail in the making.
