Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 2 Gallon Ovoid Jug stamped "Charlestown" in Large Letters.
This is the stamp of Frederick Carpenter who ran the pottery in Charlestown, Massachusetts for Barnabas Edmands from 1812-1827 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 49).
This beauty features an Early Ovoid Form and a Clear "Charlestown" Stamp in Large Letters on the Shoulder. Stands 13 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. Chips inside the left side of the spout, two chips on the right side of the spout (1/4", 1/2"), three chips at the base (1/4", 1/4", and 3/4"), and some staining at the base from use. No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
