Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Jar.
The decoration indicates that it was made by Alexander Conrad, of New Geneva, Pennsylvania. Conrad ran the pottery in New Geneva from 1870-1882 before moving to Shinnston, WV (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 164-65).
Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features a Carefully Tooled Rim, a Stylized and Geometrical Floral Garland Top and Bottom, and a Freehand Capacity Number in the Middle Flanked by 4 Stripes on Each Side. Stands 11 1/2" tall
Very Good Condition. A 3 1/2" horizontal hairline on the bottom left that wraps under as a small Y (closeups). Otherwise as made. No chips, stains, or restoration.
