Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Blue and White Stoneware Spongeware 1 Gallon Pitcher.
It was made by the Uhl Pottery of Huntingburg, Indiana (Anna Mary Feldmeyer & Kara Holtzman, Uhl Pottery, 2nd ed., p. 25).
Dating to the early 20th century, this beauty has a Bulbous Base with Tall Neck and Pinched Spout, as well as Gorgeous Blue Sponging! This form and maker is a perennial favorite with collectors. Measures 9 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A couple of innocuous pinhead-size nibbles on the footer. That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A 1/4" glaze skip on the footer in the making.
