Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Decorated Cake Crock.
This beauty is easy to attribute to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1870, this beauty features a Two Brushed Cobalt Leaves on Each Side and Additional Cobalt at the Handle Terminals. One side has an additional leaf in the middle. Measures 5" tall and 8" wide across the top.
Good Condition. A 1" surface ping inside the rim, four narrow chips outside the rim (1/4" to 1/2"), and heaving chipping to the handles. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
