Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this fantastic 1 Gallon Wax Sealer made by "Hamilton & Jones, Greensboro, Green Co., PA."
This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, Pennsylvania from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
This beauty has a lot going for it: It is a wax sealer, nearly 10", tapered sides, 5 cobalt stripes, and the company advertising in the middle. The cobalt is strong, the stencil complete, and the color of the gray light. Stands 9 3/4" tall.
An excellent and uncommon example by this maker.
Excellent Condition. Two 1/4" flakes on the inner rim, small chips around the inside of the outer rim, and some light staining in places on the back. That's it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A 1/4" clay void near the top left where straw burned away in the making, and a drip of cobalt on the front.
