Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Profusely Decorated 1 1/2 Gallon Butter Crock from Baltimore, Maryland.
The decoration makes a confident attribution to William Linton, an associate of Perine, who made stoneware in Baltimore from 1845-1867 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 98).
This beauty features a Large Open Flower Coming in from the Left with an Additional Leave to the Right that Fills the Space. The decoration is rich and leaves little empty space. Additional cobalt at the handle terminals. Measures 5" tall by 9 1/4" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A 3/8" chip inside the rim and minor nibbles at the base. No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
